Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, has announced the UAE's intention to utilize artificial intelligence in legislative work, reported by the Financial Times.
"This new AI-powered legislative system will revolutionize the process of law creation, making it faster and more precise," stated the Ruler of Dubai.
Previously, the government approved the establishment of a new cabinet division – the Regulatory Intelligence Office – to oversee the legislative advancement of AI.
Furthermore, AI will be tasked with monitoring the impact of laws on the population and the country's economy. Additionally, a database of federal and local laws, as well as public sector data such as court rulings and government services, will be created.
The Ruler of Dubai also stated that AI will "regularly propose updates to our legislation." It is expected that AI will accelerate the law-making process by 70%.
However, concerns remain that what may be considered normal for a machine may not be suitable for humans.
